Fighting fire with fire
Bad Cop tells the story of Kriminalhauptkommissar Wolf, a burned-out narcotics agent in Hamburg, Germany, who has seen too many bad guys get away with murder. He decides to fight fire with fire, sparking a gang war between the Hells Angels and the Albanian mafia. In an early scene that sets the tone, he walks into a crowded St. Pauli bar, slams his gun onto the thigh of a dealer, steals his drugs, and walks back out. That night, he hunts down his first victim.
As the bodies pile up, Wolf is assigned as an organized crime expert to the homicide squad that is investigating the series of murders he himself is committing. Perversely, his colleagues know less than the reader until the final pages of the book. The faced-paced story is laced with dark humor and snappy dialogue as well as a few surprisingly heat-warming scenes that provide welcome relief.
