I found this book not only very informative about Bernini, but also very good on the history and personalities of Rome at the time. The background information gives an extra insight into the kind of man Bernini was and how the environment he lived in, and the personalities he had to deal with helped to shape not only his character but also his works. An excellent book, very informative and very well written. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in Bernini and also to those who have any interest in Baroque art and architecture, and Rome.
