Reviews: Blind Pursuit (6)
“Intense, intricately plotted, immersive story”
(Paperback)
by Cathy Geha
Blind Pursuit by Rob Sinclair ~ Intense, intricately plotted, immersive story ~ Couldn’t put it down ~ What I liked: * Callum Murphy: construction worker, rugby player, dyslexic, bullied as a child, told he was dumb, good friend, falls in love with and marries Lea, on a quest to find out who killed his wife and why * Lea Torrance/Claire Simmonds: MI6 operative, skilled, lethal, talented, bright, begins to question her work, falls for Callum, searching for “Ithaca”, dies too young * The opening chapter that set the stage and made me care about Lea * The dual timeline that moved between present and past till the two finally met near the end * The glimpses into what it might be like to be a spy and how dangerous it can be * The way Lea was questioning the choices she made when she was younger and how difficult some of her other choices later must have been ~ I was intrigued by and admired her * Learning more about Callum’s backstory, following him on his quest, seeing how he processed clues, growing to like him, and hoping he would survive * That it wasn’t easy to know who the “good guys” were * That the story made me think about families, love, living a double life, work, corruption, and so many other things * Wondering what Callum must have felt after finding out the woman he loved and had been married to was also someone else when not with him * The plot, pacing, setting and writing * Thinking about Callum’s future and wondering what might lie in store for him What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * The backstabbing corrupted evil characters * Thinking about how much lying took place and how hard it must have been to keep stories straight Did I like this book? “Home grown thriller”
(Paperback)
by Christine Harman
Wow this book is amazing. Callum meets Lea and falls in love with her but unknown to him she has a secret life. After she is killed Callum gets caught up with trying to find out why she died. Meanwhile the secret services and police are trying to find out if he knew what Lea had discovered. One minute you think that the bad guys are one group then the other group and then the first group or is it someone else. With well formed characters and plenty of action, this story has it all. From the streets of Bristol to the mountains of Portugal, the locations are exquisite. And a satisfactory ending. A great thriller story. With thanks to the author,Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

“Fast Paced Thriller”
(Paperback)
by KDRBCK
Blind Pursuit by Rob Sinclair published by Boldwood Books is a full length, stand alone thriller. Callum believes he's living the perfect picket fence life. But in the blink of an eye everything changes. His late wife, Lena, was living a whole other secret and dangerous life. And he had no clue, poor guy. This life of her brings danger to his doorstep and soon his own health and life's in danger. Fast paced, complex with twists and turns, had me in suspense til the last chapter.
“A real page turner!”
(Paperback)
by Maureen Ellis
*4.5 stars* Callum Murphy thought he was a lucky guy - he and his wife Lea were devoted to each other. However, Lea’s work as a successful corporate consultant, meant that she had to work away from home fairly often, so he relished the time they spent together - however, Lea hasn’t been honest with him! The first Callum knew about Lea’s duplicity is when the police turned up at his door with the devastating news that she had been killed in a motorcycle accident abroad. If that wasn’t enough of a shock, he’s also informed that she was an MI6 operative! To cut a long story short, Callum finds himself fleeing across Europe to discover the truth behind this tragedy, but there are others in pursuit of him, because they believe Lea left some important secrets with him, and they’re determined to get their hands on this information! Wow, this was a really fast paced thriller, with plenty of twists and turns, and lots of suspense too. A real page turner, with every scene-ending, leaving you wanting more!
“Standalone thriller”
(Paperback)
by Neville [email protected]
Lea gets killed, her husband doesn't know she was an M16 agent. Told in two viewpoints this excellent standalone thriller is fast paced. I liked the chracters of Lea and her husband Callum. I love Rob's thrillers and is no exception. Well written and I for one like the standalone for a change from a series. Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this review copy.
