Reviews: Celtic Magic (1)
“A delightful insight”
(Hardback)
by Lucie Scott
An enchanting introduction to Celtic magic, this book proves to be in depth in its detail and gorgeously presented (as I have come to expect from any Thames and Hudson publication). By revealing its incorporation into daily life from antiquity to the Middle Ages, Celtic Magic invites readers to discover the mysteries through rituals and practical charms, adding a playful and appealing angle to this fascinating history. With stories from the medieval Celtic world, old poems, relics from a pre-Christian era and the long-forgotten Gods, Ehrmantraut examines this history and practice with delightful energy and is even able to educate the reader on the Greco-Roman influences and the ambiguity of translating Celtic languages. This was a pleasure to read and has really ignited within me a need for more books in this area, and my library is all the richer by its addition Thank you to Thames and Hudson for gifting me a copy
