I was just a kid when these murders took place, so I didn’t know anything about them, but this book pulled me in right away. The chapters are short and easy to get through, and I liked how the story jumped between different characters—it kept things moving. Since I’m from Chicago, I thought the way people talked and acted felt authentic. The murder itself was disturbing, and it stuck with me long after I finished reading. I felt especially bad for Gio’s father—he clearly tried to raise his son right, but Gio still wound up mixed in with the wrong crowd. The behind-the-scenes look at the lawyers and how they handled the case made it even more interesting. Even when I wasn’t reading, I found myself thinking about the possible motive. Really glad I picked this one up.
