From the opening this is a very engaging story with plenty of intrigue. The writing is wonderful, with lots of fantastically put together descriptions and imagery. The split timeline is a particularly interesting device and makes for a great read. I would recommend this to anyone into crime fiction, particularly historical, who wants an exciting story told in an interesting way.
