This is the second in the Sandlin PI series but reads well as a standalone. Dual timelines involving Eliza & Scott, Hannah & Lottie; And Ash. Ash disappeared twelve years ago & is presumed dead. However, she has been recently sighted - or has she? Strange things are happening in the present. Scott is almost destitute & in fear for his life. Eliza inherited her aunt’s money & house but is unhappy. Her marriage has broken down & her ex-husband, with his new wife, recently became a father. Eliza’s longed for dream. A chance meeting in a café, leads Hannah to investigate the circumstances around the eponymous Ash disappearing. So many red herrings & a great unexpected ending join the two timelines seamlessly. Well written & I’m drumming my fingers impatiently for the next one. Recommended.
