As pointed out repeatedly recently, it is 10 years since Lehman Brothers became insolvent and this book covers both the period before that as well as the years afterwards. It goes into great detail but is nevertheless very readable and it is great to have such a detailed history of this period available. It also describes the subsequent problems in the Eurozone and explores the politics between the main creditor nation, Germany, and the debtor nations. What I hadn't expected was that the history would continue to cover both Brexit and the emergence of President Trump. The one omission which surprised me is that the Glass-Seagall Act is not mentioned by name although its repeal by the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act is referred to. I thought that a simple time line might have been helpful as well as a glossary of the initials used throughout the book, particularly in respect to the various financial instruments. Nevertheless is a super history of this period and a book I am pleased to have, keep and no doubt refer to in the future. Chris Thurman

This author blames the irresponsible and poorly regulated financial sector - American and European banks all culpable, huge liabilities consisting of short term borrowings. Good analysis.
