This book has given me great ideas to improve writing within school. Simple and effective models to follow with proven results. Highly recommended.

This is a brilliant resource for teaching writing effectively. We use it throughout our school and it has had a positive impact. It's particularly effective for hooking boys and giving them the tools for writing at the expected level. The children really enjoy using the strategies outlined in this book with great results.

Used these structures for the first time last year in Year 6. This method encouraged reluctant writers, who were then able to achieve success, thereby improving self-confidence. It also enabled more confident writers to use higher level punctuation successfully. Our writing moderator at the end of the year was impressed with how the cohort used the range of punctuation accurately. Thoroughly recommend this resource!

I was fortunate enough to complete some of my teacher training with Alec and see this in practice. Great systematic way to improve sentence structures as it gives children (especially the more mathematically minded ones) a formula for building different types of sentence. Easily adaptable for any ks2 year group and I've even been known to spend whole lessons introducing a new structure before adding it to the daily routine. Absolute must-have!
