“A very interesting thriller 5/5”
(Paperback)
by Jynerya
Incredible. This novel, which mixes thriller, science fiction and speculative science fiction, begins with one of the fundamental philosophical questions that human beings have asked themselves throughout history: Am I happy with my life? Using this existential doubt as a starting point, the author presents us with a journey through the human psyche, in which science is mixed with the most basic instincts and emotions are fundamental to the development of the plot. The plot of the novel is most intriguing, and it pushes you to keep reading throughout, to find out what happens to the main character, Jason, who is sent to a world that isn't his own and must discover what has happened and why to him. This makes him reflect on his life, on what he has achieved and on whether he regrets the choices he has made so far. All of this generates a very interesting evolution in the character that the reader can identify with, making us live the story more closely. On the other hand, the premise of "what if ....?" that is present throughout the book makes us constantly question how small decisions and choices in our lives can generate a totally different future. This element is what intrigued me the most, because it isn’t a very recurrent theme and in my opinion the author develops it very well, doing it in a subtle way, but being present throughout the book. Regarding the scientific elements of the novel, I think they are very well presented, because although complex issues are developed that may escape us, it isn’t an impediment to the understanding of the story. Moreover, although they are explained in scientific terms and difficult explanations are given, there is a simpler explanation afterwards, which provides us with the necessary knowledge so that we don't get lost in the plot. In short, this is a very dynamic novel, with constant action and a mystery that the reader wants to solve from the beginning. In addition, having only one main character, it is very easy to connect with him and this makes it an immersive book, even if it is in a world that can be a dream… or a nightmare… “It's the beautiful thing about youth. There's a weightlessness that permeates everything because no damning choices have been made, no paths committed to, and the road forking out ahead is pure, unlimited potential.” Jason Dessen “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious” Einstein “When you write something, you focus your full attention on it. It's almost impossible to write one thing while thinking about another. The act of putting it on paper keeps your thoughts and intentions aligned.” Amanda Lucas

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced, action packed and full of heart. It was really really great and if there was ever a sequel I would read it in a heart beat.
“INCREDIBLE ”

This book has ripped me up inside. I’m not even that into sci-fi books, but this had me gripped and emotional from the very first page. If you’re looking to be whisked away to somewhere new, then pick up this. Dark Matter is an experience. I actually don’t know what else I can say about this novel without spoiling the entire thing because I’m a mess of emotions right now and I know I’ll just spill everything out on the page that I shouldn’t. I don’t want to spoil this for anyone. This is the sort of book where you want to go in not knowing anything about it, because if you do, the fantasy and wonderment of this will be completely lost on you. I guess this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but considering I don’t really like the sci-fi and romantic genres and I loved this, I would still recommend this to everyone! This is a thriller, sci-fi, romance novel all rolled up into one perfect package. I’m also just going to put this out there and say that this is the greatest love story ever, at least for me. Who needs Romeo and Juliet or Elizabeth and Darcy? Pfft. Thanks to Netgalley and Crown Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

“Dark Matter is gripping and unsettling”

What resonated most is how the science never overshadows the heart of the story, it amplifies it. Blake Crouch creates a fast-paced, thought-provoking narrative that stays with me long after the final page.
