“Not for the Faint-Hearted”
(Paperback)
by readingstuffnthings.blogspot.co.uk
This, the second book in the Simon Peake series, is as explosive and action-packed as the first from the very beginning. Simon Peake is trying to lay low after the shenanigans that happened in the previous book however, trouble seems to find him no matter how hard he tries to avoid it and he is not one to let anything lie. Unfortunately, this only brings further strife to his door resulting in violent confrontations with plenty of nefarious characters. This book is not for the faint-hearted; it’s full of action, graphic violence and multiple scenes of peril. It’s written at a fast pace with oodles of tension and is recommended to those of you who enjoy reading action/thrillers and I am looking forward to continuing to follow Simon Peake's trials and tribulations in the future. Many thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of this, the second in this explosive series.
“Chaos in the south”
(Paperback)
by Christine Harman
Wow another fantastic read from Rob Sinclair. This time Simon Peake is caught up in a situation in Georgia. Three men appear outside his door and he only recognises one of them. The following chaos that ensues sees him travel across to Florida via many, many situations which he is struggling to understand. This is very much in the genre of Reacher with plenty of excitement along the way. For someone with Simon Peakes skills, he is a very likeable rogue. You are rooting for him the whole way, thinking "be careful". The characters are so well written that you either want them to make it to the end of the book in one piece or you want something bad to happen because they are so obnoxious. It feels like it is going to be a long wait for the next instalment, but very much looking forward to it. With thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
“Full of action, fast paced and intense thriller”
(Paperback)
by Yvonne Bastian
This is the 2nd explosive thriller in the Simon Peake series by this author and it is absolutely chock-full of action, twists, and shocks. Peake has tried to lay low, but this is not him. He attracts trouble. His current relationship is ok but he doesn't really have any commitment, even though Jenn would like to think it has. Her brother brings trouble to his door, and rather than doing as he was asked to do and get rid of the body, he shoots the messengers. This story once again has Peake in the midst of chaos, crime and government agencies. The agencies play by their own rules, but then so do others. Not everything is above board in the small town in Georgia. There are gangs and affiliations as well as freelancers and then there is Peake. A Brit ex special forces with a dubious background, but has does seem to have a "do the right thing" attitude, albeit in a "not by the book" way! The pacing of this story is fast, there are many twists, and then more twists. The author has a great way of conveying the crimes the twists and also letting the plots and conclusions fall just right. It means as a reader I am never completely sure if the idea I have in my head is right but as I read it always seems to make sense. You may make some connections, but not all of them so there are shocks to be had. This is a book that deals with crime, murder and gangs, so there is some interesting reading, but kept within the context of the story and not the gory details, well, not too much! If you are looking for a fast-paced, action-packed story with an interesting lead protagonist, then this one may be right for you. I adored the second book as much as the first and can't wait to see what the author has lined up for Peake next. I would definitely recommend it.
“Action packed”
(Paperback)
by Neville [email protected]
A thriller at full throttle after reading this book you'll need a rest. Simon Peake is trying to lead a quite life but that seems to evade him, (much to our enjoyment). Full of action, twists and turns the pace doesn't let up. An excellent read and I for one can't wait for the next book. Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this review ARC.
