Reviews: Deadly Mistake (2)
“Excellent ~ Great addition to Series!”
(Paperback)
by Cathy Geha
Deadly Mistake by Rob Sinclair Simon Peake Thriller #2 ~ Dark, deadly, disturbing action-packed fast-paced story that grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go ~ Great addition to the series ~ What I liked: *Simon Peake: British, ex-special forces, checkered past, dark-gray anti-hero, a bit of a loner, protective, learned a bit more about his past though still a bit of a cipher, lives by his own rules, seems to care about the underdog, intriguing * Jenn: bartender, sibling, Adam’s sister, Simon’s current girlfriend * Adam: a bit of a mystery, in with some bad dudes, survivor, brother of Jenn, asks Simon for help with an issue that sees more than one in a difficult position * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * Beginning to understand and care about Simon even though he is not squeaky clean – he is growing on me as I get to know him better * That though graphic in portraying what happens in painful scenes…it is not so detailed and explicit that I had to close the book or skip pages * That it was easy to dislike the bad guys and wish Karma would deal with them * The twist during a hurricane that reveals a whole lot more about the woman Simon has saved * That I was left wanting to find out where Simon will end up next and what situation he will have to deal with What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * Thinking about the bad guys and what they were willing to do to others for any number of reasons – a lot of harm and pain were dealt out by them * Having to wait for the next book in the series. Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Yes Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

“A cat and mouse thriller with the odds of survival for our hero diminishing rapidly”
(Paperback)
by George Young
Our protagonist Simon Peake finds himself on a mission to save a wounded woman the perpetrators thought was dead. Operating in the belief she is the innocent injured party trying to find her missing child and escape a violent husband he finds himself at the mercy of numerous adversaries all intent on killing him and the injured women. A bloodthirsty cat and mouse game enfolds as the body count increases and the odds of him succeeding or even surviving diminish by the hour. Difficult to identify who if any are the good guys as the majority of characters act and assume the persona of out and out villains. The largest conundrum being Peake himself who seems to consider the increasingly high body count of no consequence whilst conversely doing anything and everything to save this apparently tragic woman looking for her child. A battle of numerous Goliath and one foolhardy David forms a hair raising conclusion wherethe odds are not in our heroes favour.
