A collection of beautiful, funny, sometimes sad, entirely heartfelt, personal stories of 109 famous people's experiences of the NHS. The most common theme that rings out loud and clear in every story is the selflessness of these overworked and underpaid NHS staff. This book means a lot to me, the NHS means a lot to me (my first of 8x major spinal surgery was at the age of 3), much of my childhood was spent at Alder Hey Children's Hospital and as strange as it probably sounds, I mostly recall those times fondly. Thank you to every one of the 109 people who contributed their stories - please don't be harsh to those who declined to be involved, I would imagine their reasons could very well be sad ones. Most of all, thank you so incredibly much to our wonderful NHS, each and every person who works for the NHS. To quote Dame Emma Thompson "We can clap and we can whoop and holler our gratitude from the rooftops, and we should, and we do - but after this we all have to insist that whatever government is in place takes immediate action to recognise The Indispensables by raising their wages." I couldn't agree more. All profits from this book will go to NHS Charities Together to fund vital research projects, and The Lullaby Trust, which supports parents bereaved of babies and young children.

Great tributes to the NHS from the famous and the 'not so'. It just shows that regardless of who we are, rich or poor we all owe a debt of gratitude to all who work in the NHS. It the last 18 months it has been tested as never before. Great bedtime Reading, from lots of varied and interesting stories.

With all that we've been through with the pandemic, it has made our NHS even more precious and the threat of losing it to privatisation fills me with terror. These stories illustrate just what a wonderful service the NHS provides, to everyone, in normal times. During the pandemic, staff have put their lives at risk and many have been lost, which shows the dedication and unselfishness of NHS workers, top to bottom, in providing a high quality, life-saving service. All those like me who love the NHS will thoroughly enjoy this book. It is inspirational, comforting and heartwarming.

As a retired nurse I was humbled by the comments made by the contributors so well put together in this book. The balance of each chapter was very good and I couldn’t put it down. Easy to read text and beautifully put together. A very much recommended read with donations to relevant charities. Please support this book and Waterstones for supplying it so quickly.
