Reviews: Devil's Knot (1)
“A detailed telling of a real-life murder trial”
(Paperback)
An interesting and quite chilling true-life account of the tragic murder of three little boys, and the apparent miscarriage of justice that took place afterwards when three teenage boys were charged with the murders with very little evidence, except that they enjoyed reading Stephen King, writing poetry, wearing black and listening to Metallica. It's a sobering read, especially when you consider that this is fairly recent history. It's a full and detailed account - perhaps too full at times, as there are hundreds of footnotes, some more relevant than others, and it was actually a real pain flicking to the back of the book to read them, especially as sometimes all the footnote was was the full name of the witness being quoted - which could easily have been included in the main text! But apart from that, this is an extremely readable book.
