Reviews: Divergent (71)
“By Brianna, age 14”
(Paperback)
I like Beatrice because throughout the book she develops as a character. I particularly like the daredevil nature of the book and I can't wait to read the sequel.
“Amazing!”
(Paperback)
Couldn't put this book down, gave me the same feelings as when I read the hunger games. It doesn't matter if you have already seen the film, it just adds loads more detail. My favourite book EVER!
“Definitely a book I'd recommend to others”
(Paperback)
Before I read this book I was in the same situations as many other people: I wanted to read it, but it just sounded so similar to The Hunger Games.
I have never been more glad to pick up a book, because this series has ended up surpassing any and everyone one of my expectations. I've now read Divergent 3 times, and it has been just as thrilling and enjoyable as the first time I turned the pages.
The story has stayed with me long after I've turned the final page, and I wholeheartedly encourage people to read this book if they haven't already.
I also like how there is romance within the story, but it isn't made the focus of the plot (unlike some stories that shall remain unnamed...)
Honestly, the protagonist, Tris, is one of the most refreshing and relatable narrators that I have come across in a long time. Sure, at times she's brash and you end up yelling at the book, but that's what makes her so relatable; it makes her human.
Other than the idea of being separated into factions or districts, there aren't that many similarities between Divergent and The Hunger Games.
I cannot recommend this series enough.
“AMAZING!”
(Paperback)
Why ... why is there a cliffhanger ? I loved this book, Tris is such a powerful character.
I loved this book and I am so glad that I bought the box set of this trilogy because I honestly do not know what I would have done if I hadn't (crying...probably).
Divergent is very similar to The Hunger Games but it is also miles apart. I love Roth's writing style and I hope that it doesn't falter for when I come to read Insurgent.
I found that I was hooked on this book and amidst exams, I attempted to read this book with any snippet of time I got. I really enjoyed reading about the various factions and it gave me food for thought ... is this what the future will be like?
A beautifully crafted book. I can't wait to read more of this trilogy.
“Really, really loved this book!!!”
(Paperback)
Read this the other week and am now part way through Allegiant (3rd in the series)
I absoloutely LOVED it, the plot, characters, just everything about it.
The world Veronica Roth has created is full of twists and turns while experimenting with the idea of strict groups dividing society which I think really created a very interesting world in whcih the charcaters stories take place. Once again, loved it, 5 stars.
