Reviews: Drawing Fire (1)
“Drawing Fire”
(Paperback)
I cannot recommend this book highly enough! It's got everything - it's beautifully illustrated, funny, moving, shocking, informative and true.
Being a diary it covers not only the horrors of war but the intimate details of a soldier's life, which often included day after day of mind-numbing tedium or finding ways to use humour to combat the boredom and horrors which they were experiencing.
It's the kind of book which makes you realise yet again how poor a lot of fiction is at trying to represent real life. I hope it's not available as an e-book either, as it deserves to be read as it was created, on bits of paper.
