A gruesome and relenting tale of the full horrors of War. It is difficult as one turns the pages to imagine worse is to follow in ensuing pages but it does. An interesting thing though there is, maybe understandably, no reference to Stalin's Network of public school Upper Class English spies who throughout the War supplied him with information, often well before it ever got to Churchill. It is probably simpler to list those in the SIS and at Bletchley who were NOT Soviet spies! Churchill and Roosevelt in their meets with Stalin never realised he knew in advance exactly what their tactics and aims were. It equally shows up the relative naivety of the American President who ironically condemned the Colonialism of the British as immoral where in fact his main aim was to supplant Britain as the Worlds great Colonial power, although of course Americans called it something else. A stunning book. I rather think all those who cry out on Gaza might be more enlightened as to reality were they to read this.
