“Had me hooked!”
(Paperback)
This was such a great short read and quite unlike anything I have read before but the blurb really caught my attention. Sci-fi / Horror isn't something i usually delve into but I might have been persuaded to rectify this.
A pleasurebot you say? Say more!
I really liked the creepy vibes the penthouse gave off with the sterile emptiness and the rain against the windows. It felt dark.
The writing was good, and I was engrossed in the story. The characters were interesting and I really liked Kit.
The story kicks up a notch as Kit goes to stay in the foreboding penthouse with a billionaire to write his biography. He's an Elon Musk style chap but better looking and with an irresistible allure. He introduces her to his "creations" and things quickly escalate. There is his model that is his pride and joy and then one model who is more disobedient. Instantly, like Kit, I was intrigued by this and rightly so.
I really enjoyed how this story was about more than just the pleasurebots. It delves into how the creations are treated by the creator and how you can't help but feel empathy for them despite them being robots. It makes you question the ethical sides of what is being created here and for who. Kits warring emotions and feelings in terms of what is going on takes us on a journey with her and I couldn't wait to find out more as she does.
In a short space of time there is good character building, an intense atmosphere building, and there is a good story full of emotions and plot twists. It made me think, it made me feel and I had a good time reading this. It has spice but actually given the pleasurebot nature of this book, it wasn't the main focus of the book.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and Penguin Random House for the arc. This is my own honest review of the book.

“Great blend of scifi, horror & romance”
(Paperback)
Another interesting merge of sci-fi, horror and romance! Just like Thrum, I had no clue where this was going, a few suspicions but nothing concrete. A fast paced read full of mystery, really enjoyed it!
I'll definitely keep an eye out for more of the authors work in the future.
Thanks to Penguin Michael Joseph & Netgalley for this arc!
