At last - a romance novel set in real life! This book is quite simply brilliant. It’s a romance novel that doesn’t feel like a romance novel. Kate Eberlen has managed to ground the narrative firmly into real life, which prevents the story becoming either gushy or predictable. And, just like with Pride and Prejudice, I was kept hanging until the final page wondering whether the protagonists were ever going to get together or not! It is testament to Eberlen’s skill as an author that the ‘getting together’ of the main couple seemed to pale into insignificance as I became caught up in the development of their own individual journeys through life. A romance where the characters grow and develop? When was the last time I could say that after reading a romance? Very well done indeed!
