Reviews: Everyone Is Lying (13)
“Four stars!”
(Paperback)
D. E. White's Everyone Is Lying is an engrossing psychological thriller that effortlessly pulls readers into a web of deceit, tension, and intrigue. From the very first page, the reader is introduced to Alexandra, a woman seemingly living the perfect life. She has a successful business, a loving husband, and two beautiful children. But lurking beneath her idyllic existence is a dark secret from her past—one that has the potential to shatter everything she’s built.
The story takes a thrilling turn when Alexandra finds a perfectly folded origami bird on her kitchen table one morning. This is not just a harmless ornament; it’s a message. Only four people knew Alexandra’s nickname—Birdie—and one of them was dead. This enigmatic bird sends her spiralling back to the night that changed her life forever. Years ago, at an exclusive party, three girls died, and Alexandra fled with a secret that could ruin some of the most powerful men in the country. Now, someone is closing in on her, determined to expose the truth.
What follows is a tense cat-and-mouse game, where every corner of Alexandra’s world feels compromised. The bird is more than just a reminder—it’s a warning. Someone knows what happened that night, and they will stop at nothing to keep Alexandra quiet.
While Everyone Is Lying might not follow the typical blueprint of a psychological thriller, it still keeps readers on the edge of their seats. White masterfully builds suspense, offering both expected and unexpected twists that will keep you guessing until the final pages. There is a satisfying balance between predictability and surprise, making it a book you’ll find hard to put down.
This gripping story, laced with psychological tension and moral dilemmas, is a must-read for fans of thrillers who enjoy complex characters and a narrative that challenges the boundaries of trust and truth. D. E. White delivers a captivating tale that will leave you questioning who you can trust.
If you’re looking for a book that will keep you up at night, Everyone Is Lying is the one to pick up. Don’t miss out on this thrilling ride of suspense and intrigue.

“Tension builder”
(Paperback)
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I must admit that I really enjoyed it. D.E.White has managed to build the tension throughout, making it difficult to put down. The story is written over two timelines but it flows well.
Alexandra and Harlan had a perfect life, they had a nice house in Brighton, two beautiful children that they adored, Alexandra had built up a successful aesthetics business and Harlan was a police officer.
Things hadn't always been so easy, twenty years ago, Alexandra, then know as Lexy and a few friends, known as The Candy Girls, worked at an exclusive club as party girls, looking beautiful, serving drinks and escorting. Lexy worked hard and saved hard to pay for her nursing degree and her mother's care. Everything was well............until it wasn't, it changed on one horrific night, a night that would haunt Alexandra, a night that must stay in the past, a night that she would never speak about, Lexy had learned to live with the secret, a secret that her policeman husband must never discover.
When a traumatised Alexander found an origami bird in her house she knew that her past had caught up with her, her life was in danger, Alexandra must protect her family but how? who could she turn to ? she was up against powerful people, people who would stop at nothing to achieve their goal.
This is a well written book although the end felt a bit rushed and I can't say that I really connected with any of the characters but overall a really enjoyable story with a great build up of suspense and a good ending.
Thank you Storm Publishing and Net Gallery for this ARC, my review is voluntary.
“Tense thriller”
(Paperback)
A strong thriller that kept my interest from start to finish.
Well written characters and the everyday setting added together to keep the tension high as Alexandra tries to find out who is threatening to unravel her perfect life.
Everyone is lying is a stand-alone novel that keeps you guessing until the satisfying end..
“Fast paced”
(Paperback)
Alexander's thought she'd put the tragic events at a party twenty years ago away. But when she's called for Jury service, she recognises the defendant as someone from the party. And when she discovers an origami bird on her dining table she's fully aware that her comfortable lifestyle is going to explode.
I found this fairly fast paced, fairly predictable but enjoyable
