Reviews: Fahrenheit-182 (3)
“An emotional rollercoaster!”
(Hardback)
by Tegan at Stafford
For fans of blink-182 I think there's a lot to be enjoyed. I loved hearing the side stories and memories that Mark had to share, never have I laughed so much whilst reading a book. I just loved how honest he was. Such a great read!

blink-182 was my favorite band growing up. As a young kid, their songs were upbeat and fun, as I got older, I understood more of the lyrics, and when they went pretty emo with self-titled, I fell down that rabbit hole with them. But then it felt like they fell apart, and I was too at that time. They never stopped meaning so much to me, being my introduction to pop-punk, but I didn’t go back to them with enthusiasm when Neighborhoods came out when I was finishing college. It didn’t feel like they were really back, and according to Mark Hoppus in Fahrenheit-182, they weren’t really. Despite all that, I greatly admired Mark Hoppus for always seeming like the chill member of the group. I was always so happy to hear him as a featured vocalist in songs by other groups, like All Time Low and Simple Plan. A favorite book genre of mine has become celebrity memoir. I know a lot of people see them and think something along the lines of, “who cares, you’re rich,” but I read from celebs who had a hand in something that meant something to me, so Fahrenheit-182 was a must read. And, honestly, one of the great equalizers of humanity, other than death, is illness; Hoppus had lymphoma, and listening to that part of his story meant so much to me because my sister had cancer, so stories of strength and survival resonate with me. But, listening to Hoppus’ story of forming one of the great influences of exactly who I turned out to be was magical really. A one in a million chance that ended up meaning so much to millions of ones.

A lovely memoir, full of heart. Great to learn the inside secrets of one of my favourite bands.
