Reviews: Fallen (7)
“great”
(Hardback)
Could not put it down. A fantastic gripping read from beginning to end!
“It's fantastic.”
(Paperback)
The writing style is brilliant. The plot makes it so you don't come to the right conclusion until the very end. It accomplishes everything a thriller should.. As it develops you understand more about Will, Faith and Sara, and this just adds an extra depth to the book. I have to say that I've read most of Karin Salughter's books and this latest one is by far one of the best. I would recommend it to everyone.
“Gripping”
(Paperback)
Gripping down to the last detail, feeling as though your on the emotional journey with the family in the story.
Definitely a good read.
“Another superb novel from Slaughter.”
(Paperback)
I have read all of Karin Slaughter's books and while I've enjoyed the Grant County series immensely I much prefer this series. Although there are welcome visits from crossover characters - Sara Linton for example, the characters in this series are just better.
Will Trent is the perfect embodiment of a damaged individual who has made good, still struggling with his demons and his baggage in the form of Angie (who frankly is scary and irritating in equal measure!!), he still manages to use his incredible deduction skills to solve cases in the face such enormous adversity. I love him!
Faith and Amanda feature very heavily in this story and we learn a great deal more about the family dynamic of the Mitchell clan and Amanda herself. There is a very tantalising suggestion at the end of this novel about Will and Amanda's connection, I rather suspect though that it will turn out to be an enormous red herring!
The story at first centres around the investigation of Evelyn Mitchell as it would seem that her past has caught up with her resulting in bloodshed and kidnap, but it soon becomes apparent that there is an awful lot more to the kidnappers. The story unfolds in a very convincing way, revealing a little at a time through some interesting lesser characters (such as Roz Levy, and Roger and Julia Ling) and when all the pieces are in place the final showdown is nothing less than spectacular.
Well worth a look whether one is a diehard fan of Slaughter or not, it would also stand up well as a stand-alone novel as there is enough on the background of the central characters to enjoy this without necessarily reading the others in this or the Grant County series.
“Brilliant read!”
(Hardback)
I loved this book. I have read all of the other books in the series and this one didn't dissapoint. It was a real page turner and I love the way past storylines are carried thorugh the book. An excellent author, can't wait for the next release!
