Reviews: Finding Suzy (3)
“Absorbing”
(Paperback)
FINDING SUZY – DAVID VIDECETTE
When I read non-fiction books, I often find them to be quite slow and wordy. This book, however, is written as more of a murder mystery story and has achieved the rare quality of a gripping nonfiction book, even managing some cliff hangers at the end of chapters. I began this book in the afternoon and found myself sitting up until 2.30am to finish it. I had to know the conclusions that would be reached! Obviously, there has been painstaking, extensive research completed to reach his conclusions. If they are correct, a mystery is solved. I wait for the police investigation. This book is an absorbing read and I highly recommend it. Enjoy!
“A really fascinating read”
(Hardback)
This is a fascinating account of the famous historical case of the disappearance of the estate agent, Suzy Lamplugh (25), who went missing in Fulham in July 1986. She is said to have met a mysterious man called Mr Kipper at a house viewing in nearby Shorrolds Road at lunchtime and has never been seen since.
The author, David Videcette, an investigator and former Scotland Year detective, along with colleague, Caroline, spent five years reinvestigating the case and trawling through all the evidence, conducting new interviews with various key witnesses and coming up with new theories to explain Suzy's disappearance.
This is a very detailed, thought-provoking and gripping read, with some intriguing revelations, and really asked some important questions of the case and the way it was handled and the conclusions that were drawn. Shockingly, it seems that many things were overlooked or missed, mistakes made, the wrong conclusions arrived at and the police followed the wrong leads and dismissed others without investigating them and didn't interview key people.
Finding Suzy is a really fascinating read and although it probably provokes as many questions as it answers, it certainly made me re-evaluate the case and question the way things were handled. It makes you realise how that one tiny bit of information is all that it takes to make or break a case. To this day, Suzy or her body haven't been found but, hopefully, one day she will be located and be able to rest in peace, finally. Sadly, Suzy's parents both died without knowing what happened to her.
“Searching For The Truth”
(Paperback)
In 1986, Real Estate Agent Suzy Lamplugh vanished without a trace while showing a house to a man who gave his name as Mr. Kipper. She was never seen nor heard from again.
investigator and former Scotland Yard detective, David Videcette ( the author) and his researcher have spent years looking at this with fresh eyes. There are incredible new witness interviews and potential new evidence that they have presented to law enforcement. Through intensive investigation, Videcette uncovers piece by piece what happened to Suzy and why the case was never solved.
The question remains ... will Scotland Yard ever re-open this cold case ....
This is a True Crime well worthy of any aficionado of this genre.
