Reviews: First Born (54)
“First Born by Will Smith”
(Hardback)
First Born by Will Dean is a book about identical twins, Mollie and Katie. Katie moves to America to study, leaving Molly in England, they have never been separated for that length of time or distance before. Then Katie is found dead and her parents, who were visiting at the time want Molly to join them, while the police try to find her killer.
A strange, convoluted storyline with many twists and turns and strange characters that appear and disappear.
Recommended.

I give this book 4 stars
My twin sister knew me better than anyone,we are identical. We’d never been apart, until now.The Police are searching for the truth about her,and so am l.Because there are some things only a twin can know. The last thing a twin expects…….is to be alone!
This book started off at a slower pace but soon picks up speed with the suspense building and the twists start to arrive.l enjoy the authors writing style and felt like l could easily picture the New York setting and the characters.A gripping thriller from an author l will be keeping an eye out for in the future.

“The death of a twin sets off a trajectory series of events leading to mayhem and murder”
(Hardback)
Twins born three minutes apart. As children inseparable, two parts of one whole with a secret language only they understand. As adults a chasm of differences separate them. The oldest confident, outgoing, popular and ready to take on the world. The younger, bedevilled with anxieties, phobias, and dependency issues to the point of obsession with controlling every aspect of her life. . For her, the decision of her elder sister to travel to America on a charity foundation scholarship not only destroys the closeness with her sister she relies upon but sets off a catastrophic series of events that will ultimately result in mayhem and murder. A complex mystifying story of intrigue and revenge where the reader is compelled to turn each page in an effort to figure out what is going on and who exactly is the perpetrator Thoroughly enjoyed trying to decipher the trajectory of events and identity the transgressor although totally blindsided by the incredible conclusion. Many thanks to author, publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.
“Pacy and readable thriller”
(Hardback)
First Born tells the story of identical twins, Katie and Molly. Katie is the eldest by 3 minutes and whilst she is confident and outgoing, Molly is the opposite, crippled by her fears and living a much smaller life in London compared to Katie's exciting life in New York. The sudden death of Katie makes Molly feel compelled to go to New York and be where the other half of her was until she was cruelly taken from her.
There's a sense of unease to the story as Molly navigates New York looking for answers. The setting is fascinating and I felt fully immersed in New York life, the darker side of which somehow worked to add to the disquiet that was creeping over me. It took Molly completely out of her comfort zone and planted her in a place where she didn't feel safe. Nevertheless, she gave me quite a tour of the city in her time there.
This is a book of two halves. The first half took me in one relatively sedate direction and the second half in a completely different and more thrilling one. I must admit that Will Dean surprised me several times with plot twists that I just didn't see coming. First Born is a pacy and very readable thriller with themes of jealousy and revenge, with a somewhat unexpected and wild storyline that worked to keep me turning the pages to find out what happened to Katie.
