Reviews: Go Wild! (1)
“Be A Big Kid!”
(Paperback)
I have forgotten a lot of the skills from Brownies and girl guides. This bought a lot of memories rushing back in my search for fun free things to do during the holidays.
Shelter making, fire without matches, foraging and cooking outdoors were excellent basics.
Then more fun stuff like making your own tools and weapons, especially making your own bushcraft knife {p.110} peashootersand using an axe. Easier to find the bits you need than you think in the hills!
How to make natural cordage from plant fibres, nettles and vines with step guide on how to make the right knots and lashing to bind sticks together.
Making burnt cups and finding safe water from dew and fog. Such great bushcraft tips in a book marked 101 things to do outdoors before you grow up. Well I am grown up and I can't wait to get out with my kids and try some of these free activities.
