I truly recommend this book to anyone thinking of reading it! There is so much happening but it’s all written so well that ir doesn’t get confusing. I was hooked the whole time which I absolutely love, it’s one of those where you’re left staring at a wall

Reading the premise of this book I knew I needed to read it! Van Jensen started life as a screenwriter and graphic novelist and you get a blend of both in this debut novel. The descriptions painted a vivid comic panel in my brain while the pace of the story never lets up. He does an incredible job of taking many genres and a myriad of plot points and melding them in to a novel that will delight readers who love a good crime mystery while also satisfying science fiction fans. With a TV series adaptation and 2 more books to come I say...Bring it on!
“A successfull blending of genres”

Before reading this book, I had high expectations. Usually, that would be a sure way to end up disappointed. But not this time: Godfall kept all its promises, and more. So, what kind of book is that? Not as easy a question as it sounds... Is it sci-fi? Yes. A mysterious alien giant falls from the sky near a previously quiet small town, and the flow of military, secret services, scientists, reporters, curious tourists who come to study this extraterrestrial being suddenly grows the town exponentially, and transforms it. So, yes, there is an alien, but that's where the sci-fi stops. Is it a murder mystery? Yes. Several murders, in fact. It quickly becomes clear that a serial killer is on the loose in Little Springs. Can our main character, local sheriff David, discover who the killer is and stop them? Is it a small town character study? Yes. David Blunt, having lived all his life in Little Springs, where everyone knows everyone, has to handle the sudden transformation of his beloved small town into a metropolis. And being the sheriff, with only one deputy, he has a lot on his plate to keep things in order. A great setting, and a great character. Van Jensen somehow manages to juggle all these different angles with skill. It is well written, gripping, and multi-faceted enough for all readers to find something they enjoy. Highly recommended.
“Enjoyable sci-fi crime crossover”

Small town serial killer thriller mixed with sci-fi? It's safe to say I was very intrigued on how this would read. I had in my head The X-Files (which I love) but this was definitely more heavy on the crime story rather than the sci-fi. The alien seems to play the part of a metaphor (for change and modernisation) rather than a precursor to an alien invasion, it works as more of a catalyst for the characters. The main character of Sheriff David Blunt was a bit of a cardboard cut out, the sort you see in most American TV crime series, which meant he was very predictable. It was a little frustrating how long it took the Sheriff to catch the killer, I had a suspicion early on of who was responsible and so I felt the pacing slowed in places. However, I can see why this book has been picked up for dramatisation as it was a really enjoyable read and the small town characters and setting contrasting with a shiny new city and resident dead alien should translate really well to screen. Definitely more for the crime readers than sci fi.
“As An Asteroid Hurtles To Earth. Will A Small American Town Ever Be The Same?”
(Hardback)
by Nicole @hemelwstones
There's not a big build up to the event of the asteroid heading to earth but just the everyday small town in Nebraska stuff the Sheriff has to look after. It then jumps to 2 years later and events start to unfurl as the Sheriff tries to manage his small town and what's built up around it, outsiders, army & a cult that come to worship what fell from the skies. But then the murders start... I liked this, was a bit of a surprise in the reading and it was tied up rather well, although I think left open a bit should a follow up be required. I think I'd like to know more. Would be good as a tv series. Thank you to publisher for gifted proof copy.
