“Grace”
(Paperback)
Grace’s family is a member of a fundamentalist Christian community, however the story is more about a young girl beginning to question the points of view of the adults in her life rather than debating extreme religious ideas.
The story is told with a gently hand and although there are some tense moments there is still a sense that Grace is in control and can overcome. At no time does Gleitzman mock the beliefs of his characters and in fact Grace’s faith provides her with admirable values which may seem naïve in this day and age.
This is a wonderfully uplifting story and Grace is a brave and resourceful heroine. Her faith in God is her mainstay when times get difficult as well as her love and trust in her mother and father.
