The story of Greyfriars Bobby is true & took place in Edinburgh more than one hundred years ago. The story has become muddled a bit & some of the facts mixed up , but this book written by Ruth Brown is as near to the actual truth regarding this little faithful dog. She relates the tale simply, introducing two children who wish to learn about Bobby, &there is a clever twist while they find out about him. The book is superbly illustrated,every page showing Victorian Edinburgh more or less as it is today. The story is short &suitable for young children. I have given four stars because ,being Scottish ,I feel that a few facts could have been elaborated on & the story a little bit longer. My grandson who is five years old loves It!
