Detective Ellie Reeves is back in this, the sixth book in the series set in the small town of Crooked Creek, in the Appalachian mountains. This time she is trying to find out what happened at an orphanage where numerous bones were found. She is partnered up with FBI agent Derrick but also with Cord, a ranger. both have interesting back stories, but for now she’s dedicated to getting justice for the victims of what looks like being a serial killer. This is a very tense murder mystery, setting off at a cracking pace and not faltering all the way to the unexpected ending. There is a lot to get your head round but it dovetails really well into the very exciting last few chapters. A definite must read, stand-alone but helps to have read at least a few of the previous books. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
