“A fast-paced palate cleanser”
(Paperback)
by Rob S
I picked this up ready to spend a few days sat on trains and wanted a quick read. This was perfect for that. It's a hide and seek thriller with a supernatural element and goes really hard into the chilling, creeping sense of dread as competitors start to vanish. The pacing is fast, the descriptions are excellent and I really enjoyed the characters. The reason this gets 4 instead of 5 stars is the ending. It's so abrupt that it really feels like a final "wrap-up" chapter is missing. I turned the page and all of a sudden it was the Acknowledgements section. That being said I really enjoyed reading this and it got me through a few days of travelling. Would highly recommend for a fast-paced palate cleanser.
“I suddenly have the urge to visit abandoned amusement parks.”
(Paperback)
by Robyn Drummond
When Hide and Seek turns deadly. 14 contestants enter the park and compete in a game of hide and seek for a substantial prize money. But what actually happens when a contestant gets tagged out? This is only the second book I have read by Kiersten White and I have absolutely loved both of them. This book in particular tickled fancies I didn't even know I had. I suddenly have the urge to visit abandoned amusement parks because the eerie atmosphere is something so creepy and mysterious that I would love to enjoy it myself (she says whilst knowing that she would probably pee her pants in fear). I usually don't pay much attention to maps in books but I did find myself following the characters steps via the map in this one. The map is unbelievably cool! I loved the diversity of the contestants and the variety of reasons they all entered the park. Particularly the MC Mack who hides something dark in her past. There are quite a few twists in this book that kept me hooked trying to figure out the secret myself. I devoured this book in only a few days it kept me so engrossed! Things are most definitely not what they seem in this abandoned amusement park. I really wish I could say more but I definitely do not want to spoil it for others! In short I really loved it and I need more books like this in my life.
