Reviews: Inquisitive (1)
“Inquisitive - A fantastic read”
(Paperback)
Here is my review for Inquisitive by Stephen DG Frame
I really enjoyed reading the fantasy adventure, Inquisitive, which was such an intriguing story. I was hooked right from the start of the book and I thought Lottie was quite an interesting character. She seemed rather taken with Mr Steals bookshop on Gallowgate Lane. Although she did escape from Payge by running away with a copy of a book called Anatomy. She was drawn to the book but things around her and her flat changed. Her flatmates were talking about stuff being moved in their rooms but everyone denied doing it. Then she thought she heard someone trying to get into the flat but there was no-one there. She tried to take the book back but Payge wouldn’t accept it. He told her that she is in danger and she is being hunted by some powerful, secretive individuals that are only too happy to kill her. He tries to keep her safe but does he have an ulterior motive? This is a superbly written fantasy story and well thought out. I think the author has used his imagination really well to write this story and create these terrific characters. It’s a very descriptive story that is extremely detailed and well explained. I liked the author’s writing style and I found it easy to get into. I thought it was well plotted. I would like to read more fantasy books by this author in the future.
Blurb :
Lottie is living her best life: a new city to explore, new friends, and the challenge of her studies—until a chance encounter with Payge, an odd bookseller, shatters everything and changes her life forever.
Payge warns Lottie that she’s being hunted by powerful, secretive individuals known as the Makers, who control portals linking different worlds. Offering his protection, Payge takes her through strange realms, where Lottie discovers she has a rare ability the Makers lack—the power to alter these portals. When her powers are exposed, she attempts to escape her dangerous new life, but she faces betrayal, loss, and near-death encounters, relying on her growing bond with Payge to survive. Yet she begins to wonder if he is truly the friend and protector he claims to be.
With her world in ruins, her powers revealed, and enemies closing in from all sides, can Lottie find a way to control her destiny—or will she be forced to flee forever?
