Wow! What a powerful novel. After a horrific upbringing and betrayal by her husband, Leslie is suffering from mental illness. Her writing career comes to a standstill, and she spends her days watching people from her window, going about their lives. Selena, is a 17 year old school girl, who is working part time, as well as making sure that her two younger sisters are safe. One morning, she misses her school bus, and hitches a ride in a van. Leslie worries about her, and so decides to make sure that she stays safe by becoming a part of her life. I find that the best books are chosen by their cover and title; how true that was in this case. It was a really moving read. I was hooked from the first page. Full of twists and turns, I thought that I had worked out the ending, only to find that a big twist towards the end made it not quite how I had predicted.
