Reviews: Inside Vogue (2)
“Pretentious? Yes. Good book? Also yes”
(Hardback)
I really enjoyed this book! Is it a little bit pretentious? Yes. But what would you expect? If this is a world that interests you then no one can give you a better insight into it than the editor and chief of 25 years herself. I watched the BBC documentary that was filmed around the same time as this- if you enjoyed the book then I highly recommend watching the doc too.
“An easy, enjoyable read!”
(Paperback)
As a series of diary entries written by the Editor-in-chief of Vogue Magazine, the book offers an insight into the realities of magazine publication. Through a personal rendition of the process undertaken to create the 100th anniversary edition of Vogue, Alexandra highlights the emotional and logistical difficulties if her role. The wit and humour featured throughout the text recognises the privileges of working for a major fashion/editorial company, as well as the irrelevancy of editorial problems against wider social dilemmas.
An easy, enjoyable read!
