Interesting and engaging, this book covers a large area and a few hundred years of history. While a lot of focus is on the influence of missionaries, it also covers beachcombers, how Islanders interacted with each other when travelling in the late 1700's/throughout the 1800's and stories from various sources. If the Pacific and it's history is of interest to you, this is worth a read.
