Reviews: Kill [redacted] (16)
“Hard going”
(Hardback)
I love the concept of this book, how Michael who lost his wife in a terrorist attack has come to blame a certain politician for the attriocity. My problem with it is in the telling, the concept of letters to his therapist is good and they do reflect well on his fragmented state of mind however it was all so disjointed I was having trouble determining whether his thoughts were just imaginings, based on reality or simply what he thought would please her. There’s no real story to this, literally it’s just random thoughts and letters of a psychopath and told at a high brow manner which, whilst it suited the arrogant (former) headteacher persona, meant I just totally lost the plot with it. The ending was so surreal (and abrupt) that I was just left totally bamboozled, it would have been worth persevering for a good ending but I was denied even that. I love a thriller but this totally does not deserve to belong in that genre.
