Reviews: Killjoy (3)
“I absolutely LOVE this book.”
(Hardback)
Jo Cheetham was one of a group of women who took on The Sun and demanded an end to Page 3. This is her story. It is non-fiction that reads like good fiction. Well written, with passion and sensitivity, not only will you laugh and cry along with Jo, you will wish you had been with her on the demos and will definitely want to be her friend.
I can’t wait to be able to buy this book for friends and for my teenage daughter and her friends. Born in 1964, I grew up with page 3. I confess that I had forgotten how awful it was and the sexist and predatory behaviour it encouraged. Thank goodness that the campaign was successful - and the book is an excellent reminder of how far we have come.
Thank you to Jo Cheetham for all she did at the time and for writing this fabulous book, which I absolutely loved. I will be raving about it!
“Hugely enjoyable”
(Hardback)
I love this book! I enjoyed it so much, I read it too quickly and then felt kind of lost afterwards because it's SO funny and entertaining, so I started reading it all over again. It's not at all preachy, it's a very refreshing, entertaining and frankly hilarious account of how Jo Cheetham inadvertently found herself at the centre of the No More Page 3 campaign. I'm going to encourage my children to read this book when they're a bit older, as a reminder of the importance of equality, and also as a lesson in self belief, tenacity and using your voice. And did I mention, it's very funny?! Highly recommended!

I love this book! It's not at all preachy, it's a very down to earth, honest, entertaining and frankly hilarious account of how Jo Cheetham inadvertently found herself at the centre of the No More Page 3 campaign. I'm going to encourage my children to read this book when they're a bit older, as a reminder of the importance of equality, and also as a lesson in self belief, tenacity and using your voice. If you enjoy reading Caitlin Moran, you'll love this - I can't recommend it highly enough!
