This is a fantastic book. It’s wonderful to hear what can be achieved by people when given the opportunities to succeed. The stories are well written and you get a true understanding of the barriers that people with learning disabilities have to overcome in order to live the lives they want. As a social worker it’s really made me reflect on how as a profession we need to bring down the barriers for the people we work with. This is a must read for anyone working with people who have learning disabilities.

This is an honest and powerful book, its collaborative approach questions what success looks like and who can achieve. The essays are written by people with learning disabilities who have encountered many barriers, broken through them and have succeeded. The introduction gives raw, truthful accounts of the history and present day UK care, medical & educational systems and how people with learning disabilities are treated. The authenticity of the book is full of all levels humanity, hope and celebration. It’s an exceptional read and I have recommended Made Possible to many people, and will continue to recommend it.

Thank you Saba for taking the time to form this important book. It gives a stage to people who didn´t have one. The fact that the whole project is one of collaboration and crowdfunding highlights the hulk of support that upholds this kind of inclusive endeavour. People like Raana, show us another path through life, one that may be slower and a little more complicated but if we miss that path, we´re denying ourselves perhaps the best views of them all! All share just what helped make it possible for them. In her opening chapter, Salman describes the shocking mistreatment of people with learning disabilities in the past, and the many barriers they still face today. Prepare for an emotional journey - I felt a real sense of injustice, anger and sadness at times, but ultimately it is a book of hope, humour and celebration.

We chose this book for our non-fiction book club. The insights it provided sparked rich discussion for a group who mostly have limited experience in the area of learning disability. Saba Salman does a brilliant job of facilitating some inspirational people to tell us their stories, in an accessible and enjoyable way.
