Reviews: Millie's Big Decision (4)
“A lovely text about overcoming loss”
(Hardback)
by FrancesT
This is a beautiful text that had me welling up, as it deals so gently with the concept of grief. Yet any child dealing with grief won't fail to tap into its poignant— yet reassuring—message: that it’s wonderful to love, even though life is finite and loss will hurt. It reminded me of The Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson and Rebecca Cobb— a story for all children, but which will especially resonate with the bereaved. I loved it!
“Beautifully touching book”

Such a beautifully touching book filled with love and acceptance about loss. When it's time for Millie to choose her long-awaited doggy companion, she holds back because she knows she'll be sad when one day they pass on, just like her Grandma recently. But with love and patience her Dad and Daddy gently show her all the wonderful times they'll have together and how important that is. A wonderful story to help children understand loss and life and making memories with those we love.

This is such a touching story about life after loss. It is beautifully and sensitively explored and the artwork is just lovely.
“So beautifully moving...”

What a wonderful book! Ian Eagleton's poetic and thoughtful text is so beautifully moving and the sumptuous illustrations, by Max Rambaldi, are filled with emotion. With a loving family at its centre, dozens of doggies and a comforting message about processing grief, I highly recommend this book!
