Reviews: Moon Landing (1)
“Fun and educational”
(Paperback)
With thanks to the author, publishers DK Children, and NetGalley for providing me with a DRC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is an ideal book for children to learn the story of the moon landing. The writing is easy to read and understand, and the illustrations are vibrant and engaging. There is a good level of detail given throughout, but not so much that it might be overwhelming for younger readers. In scientific terms the structure of the rocket and the purpose of each section is explained really well, and the various engineering challenges that had to be overcome for the mission to be a success. We also learn about some more practical things, like what the living conditions were like for the astronauts throughout the mission, how long they spent in orbit, how long they spent on the lunar surface, and so on.
There is certainly something for everyone in this book, and it is a worthy addition to the DK Science Stories series.
