A brilliantly original blend of cosy folk horror, fantasy, workplace humour and slow-burn romance. Set in the Appalachian Mountains, (Mostly) Human Resources delivers cryptids, twists and unforgettable characters in a fast-paced story that never loses momentum. Grace Viall's writing is vivid and engaging, making it impossible not to become invested in Alexys, Nic and the wonderfully strange world of Entity. I flew through this in under two days and was left desperate for more. A hugely entertaining read that I can't recommend highly enough.

Firstly, a huge thank you to Shannon at Head of Zeus for sending me a proof of (Mostly) Human Resources to read and review early! Eeek! I have been looking forward to reading (M)HR since HoZ announced it late last year and I was not disappointed!! I absolutely loved it and I flew through it in a couple of days because it was just an absolute joy to read. I hated having to put it down and actually deal with my adult responsibilities (boooo). I 100% got Supernatural and X-Files vibes with (M)HR, Alexys and Nic are Mulder and Scully coded, albeit maybe not quite as competent haha! I loved the fact that it's set in the real world and the Entity, the organisation they work for that catalogues and researches the monsters, isn't a secret - instead it functions as part of the modern world. They're not advertising themselves and yelling about what they do to every man and his dog, but they're not hidden either. It was a really cool concept to consider whilst reading - like what if cryptids etc were real and part of normal life to the extent where you could work for a company that safeguards from them?! Awesome. The banter between Nic and Alexys had me howling, the candle scene? Loved it. I thought they worked really well together as our main female and main leads and I could easily see the rivalry / frustration between them happening in a real office. I'm also low key jealous of Nic's job, I would love to be cataloguing and researching cryptids - how cool! I really enjoyed how the dynamic of their relationship alters through the course of the book and I can't wait to see where they go in book 2!! That last line?!?!?! The plot is great and the setting of the Appalachian mountains is PERFECTION. I feel like we've barely scratched the surface of what Grace has planned, there's so many little twists and plot points that have me wondering how the story is going to unravel and I am HERE FOR IT. (M)HR is a fantastic start to the series that introduces us to Entity, Alexys and Nic, the cryptids and hints at some other mysteries and stories that we could follow in book 2 and 3. I just have a feeling that given Alexys 'promotion' at the end of book 1, that we are going to be in for an absolute ride for book 2 and Grace is going to step up the action and the cryptids and I can't wait!!! An absolute must read if you love x-files, the Appalachian mountains, cryptids and work place romance!
