Reviews: Mr Vertigo (1)
“An interesting book. Be ready to suspend reality and dive into mid America.”
(Paperback)
I am definitely keen to go and read more Auster. The writing is quite American and I found that a little hard at the start, but the story just picks you up and carries you a long. And what an epic tale charting the life of Walt.
Most of the story focuses on the start of Walt’s youth. It is fast paced. There are fun moments, tragic moments, and some that made me cringe. But throughout it all is a really enjoyable story that highlights some of the challenges of living in America during a time when outsiders were despised and feared.
If you want to suspend a little reality and go on an American adventure, I recommend this book.
