Annie had been Sue's nanny in the 1990's. The story has a dual timeline from the 90's and the present day. Annie meets Sue again after the recent death of Sue's father. Annie wants to spend more time with Sue. the pace varies throughout from slow to steady in this domestic/psychologist thriller. the second part of this book is the better part. There were also parts that dragged out. There's some good twists, it's a bit creepy and the plotline is believable. This is a very good debut novel. This was a brilliant read. I just knew from the start that I was going to like this book from the start. It certainly had a very creepy story. You just k ow there is going to be a great plot twist and I wasn't disappointed. This is a great medium pace book that builds up to a big end. The author did a brilliant job at creating a wonderful sense of atmosphere and tension. I loved just how dark this psychology thriller got. About 3/4 of the way in I got a bit confused and it took me a while to get back on track. It was creepy how jealous she became. There was some very shocking events. Some that some might find a little much but because its fiction and not real you can go that far to show what the nanny will go to get what she wants. I definitely recommend this book is you like dark psychological dangerous thrillers. Stories of obsession that characters will go to any length. So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating this creepy, dark and exciting thriller. I will definitely be looking out for more books by this brilliant author.

Annaliese Whittaker introduces herself to Sue Keller saying she was her nanny when she was little. Sue’s mother died when she was young leaving her father, a famous author, to raise her. He too has recently died and now Sue has been left adrift. Now that she has found Annie, she is hungry for the love she remembers from her when she was a small girl. Annaliese is currently living with her sister and taking care of the woman's children. Today, Sue doesn’t go out much and doesn’t take care of her personal cleanliness and that of her home. She works from home which means she is there all the time. Sue’s friend, Beth, meets Annaliese and questions her rudely telling Sue that she doesn’t trust her. But, Sue is adamant that she needs her friendship. This story flips back and forth from Sue’s childhood to her grown-up days. It is very gritty and I absolutely hated Annaliese with a passion What a sick excuse for a life. What she did to the cat made my blood boil. Sue is a whiny mess.
