“Emotional roller coaster”
(Hardback)
I read this book courtesy of NetGalley. A strong book with a harrowing subject which draws the reader in. Horrific and every family's worse nightmare when the unimaginable happens. I found it hard to read such an emotional roller coaster but incredibly well written about sensitive issues and how the people most involved react in different ways. The story involves 5 young people whose lives and those of the families are torn apart. Characters are well drawn and one can empathise with them. Having supported a dear friend this past year after a similar incident this really hit home.
“Heartbreaking”
(Hardback)
This is a beautiful book but definitely not an easy read. I like the way the story is told from the point of view of multiple different characters and we get to experience the full range of emotions each character goes through surrounding the crash. My 1 criticism is that we didn't get to hear from Tish's perspective. I really would have liked to have a bit more of her as it becomes clear she is more than just a pretty face but we only get to see her through other character's eyes. Maybe that was the point? There were a few really good little twists and turns, nothing mind blowing but I think that made it sink in more that we are often just a split second from disaster. This is the kind of book that really leaves you thinking about blame, responsibility and forgiveness. A really good read.
“Every parent’s nightmare”
(Hardback)
A group of children enjoying an evening. That night is shattered by an accident. From those in the car, to the bystander to the families of the children.
The book covers not just how the kids deal with the incident but the feelings and actions of the parents. Very emotive read. Hard not to cry when Marcus and Fran are dealing with the subject of organ donation and a childs death. However, the author has done this sensitively.
As a mum this book touches on what is my worse nightmare. A very thought provoking read.

“Interesting and moving”
(Hardback)
This was a story of grief and loss.
It starts with a car crash, where four local teenagers are seriously injured. The parents are all called to hospital and we are led through their fear.
One of the teenagers, Jess, dies of her injuries, and Harry, the driver goes to prison for careless driving under the influence.
The first half of the book is about the process of grief and the need for the parents to find out what happened and the only one who was able to tell them - at least at first - was Harry.
This is where the book was a little disappointing. There was so much build-up to finding out what the 'truth' was that I was expecting some major twist which never happened.
There are a lot of characters, who all have to deal with the aftermath of the accident, and this book guides you through their individual journeys.
