This was an amazing read, I was gripped all the way through, with the twists and turns of emotional turmoil of two people who should be together. Alf and Letty go through so much in such a short space of time. I also found myself picking up some Italian words making it easier to learn a new language. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a good page turner.

Only You is a really enjoyable book that was very easy to read. Right from the start I was invested in the characters and interested in finding out more about them and their situations. I liked that the story was told from multiple perspectives as it really allows the reader to get inside of their head. The story is well written, with plenty of descriptive and colourful words that mean it’s possible to truly imagine yourself in the various settings. A highlight being when Letty is on top of a mountain and I felt I could see the view she was seeing, and almost feel the wind and warmth of the sun it was so well described. Overall this was a great, romantic novel which I enjoyed and would recommend.

The story of Alf and Letty starts off with them meeting in Italy at a language school where they are there to start a new life and forget about the past. But there past is always there to haunt them and will it stop them from falling in love with each other. I was wrapped up in the story of will they won’t they fall in love and wanting it to work out in the end. Letty is there to try and recreate her grandma’s dream in Italy and to get over the loss of her whilst Alf is trying to make it work out after his dreams of going to dance school in London fall through due to one stupid moment. There is just one big problem for Alf and that is Gina, will he be able to sort it all out before both Letty and Gina find out about each other.

From the synopsis, I had a feeling that this was going to be my kind of book. It sounded right up my street. I remember thinking the same thing about Kate Eberlen's first book, Miss You. I liked how the book was split up into sections, starting with the present time, leading up to a tense moment, before skipping back to twenty months prior to that in part two, then going back to the present time in part three. It was a great breakdown of the story and an interesting way of telling it. I flew through part two because I needed to get back to the present day and see what happened. It was brilliant storytelling! I have to give a special mention to the setting. I have never been to Rome, or anywhere else in Italy for that fact, but I could see it all so clearly with the descriptions in this book. Obviously I've seen photos of the city but Kate Eberlen's way of describing the views and places immediately took me there. I loved the characters, especially the main characters of Letty and Alf. Letty was definitely my favourite. From the very beginning, she was someone that I wanted to know more about and really pulled me into the story. She was interesting and endearing and I could see why Alf was intrigued by her too. The character interactions were also great, with conversations that hooked me in, made me laugh and kept me turning the pages. I found that Kate Eberlen's writing style was almost addictive. I found the book incredibly hard to put down - even when it was almost 2am - and I would definitely describe it as a real page-turner. I was invested in the storyline, the characters and the outcome from the very beginning and I was confident after only a few pages that I was going to really enjoy this book. I was right. Overall, I loved this book. The Italian setting was amazing, the characters had me invested from the start, the writing had me hooked and it was perfectly paced. I thoroughly recommend this!
