Reviews: Philosophy for A2: Unit 3 (1)
“For f*cks sake, this is horrid”
(Paperback)
by Harry A
I studied the Philosophy of Mind and the Philosophy of Religion so I shall only review these two. The Mind section was not simply not good enough. Like most of his other his other books/sections, it is such a hard read and will simply confuse you. There is not enough detail and incoherent at nearly every sentence. I remember being so demotivated reading this book, it was that bad. I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the Religion section. Half of was copied and pasted from his old book. I was disgusted when I found this out. While the majority of the Religion syllabus is the same as it was a few years ago, but he could at least have had the decency to mention this somewhere (eg his website or at his many conferences!). Not only was it from his old book, the new sections were 100% irrelevant to the syllabus. It makes me very mad thinking about it. It's results day so I thought I;d tell you (if anyone is reading this), that I got a B in Philosophy (a B in Unit 1, 2 and 3, and an A in Unit 4). My experience of philosophy was great, so I would definitely recommend it as an A Level. Take care.
