“Hilarious story about remembering manners”
(Paperback)
This book is brilliant! Simon's fabulous rhyming story telling follows the tale of Bill, who wants to buy a really big ice cream, but forgets to say please. He is quickly whisked away on a madcap adventure where chaos reigns as Bill repeatedly forgets his manners. Nathan's illustrations are vibrant and full of hilarious details for children to giggle over as Bill ends up in more and more heart-stopping scenes. Until, at last, Bill realises what has been missing and 'Please' finds Bill back by the ice cream van and everything has returned to normal... or has it?! This is such a fun book which gently reminds children of the benefits of remembering to say please and thank you.
“Crazy imaginative and wonderful book”
(Paperback)
A completely anarchic and surreal children’s book, that will have adults and children alike in stitches, while trying to make sense of the wild and wonderful illustrations.
Bill never thought much about being polite – if he wanted something, he just demanded it, and never said ‘please’. He was soon to learn how important that little word could be.
When he ‘forgot’ the magic word while demanding ice cream, he was kidnapped by alien toads and whooshed into space. More impoliteness, and he (and the toads) crash into a jungle with crocodiles, tigers and chimps – then a yak, a fairy tale land with wizards and witches and …. The unending chaos becomes just too much for young Bill, and finally he realises that he must say PLEASE! if he wants something.
The madness does end, he is back at the ice cream van, politely says please when asking for some ice cream … but then forgets about that other important little word ….
Each page is a delight, filled to the brim with insane bright characters, animals and places. The text is also completely crazy – it rhymes, but the rhyming takes second place to the sheer weirdness of the prose such as “while llamas in coats, tickled farmers in boats, and cheesemongers sneezed referees”
Highly recommended - for everyone
“Hilarious!”
(Paperback)
Hilarious rhyming picture book about forgetting your manners. My daughter loved it!
“A fabulous escapade wrapped around a great message”
(Paperback)
An absolute riot of a book that reminds us of the repercussions of forgetting to say 'Please', as we follow Bill, the unfortunate hero of the tale, who's catapulted from one bonkers scenario to another. It might start with the simple purchase of an ice cream but, before long, we're got alien toads, a run-away mountain Yak, wagons of wizards and a host of other fairy tale figures but...has Bill learned his lesson yet?!
Young readers will love the crazy humour, all told in bouncy rhyme, as they enjoy spotting the details in Reed's fabulous illustrations, whilst grown-ups will be too caught up in the hilarity and whirl-wind pace to ever get bored (even on the 50th re-read!)...and let's not forget the inclusion of a lesson worth learning!
Another fav from the brilliant Simon Philips that children will love!
