I finally picked up Postscript from off my shelf after it’s been sat there for over a year and that’s thanks to Tandem Collective UK for hosting the #PostscriptReadalong Before I started, I was worried that I should’ve re-read PS I Love You as it had been years since I’d read it, but with a tbr of over 300, I felt I couldn’t justify it, but honestly you don’t need to re-read it if you don’t want to. As soon as I started, I slotted right back in to Holly’s life with ease. I loved that Cecelia Ahern brought back the same characters that we loved from the first book, we got to see how Holly’s sister Ciara was doing, as well as her friends Sharon and Denise. But there was also a new person, Gabriel, Holly’s boyfriend. I won’t lie, I found it hard to warm to him. I’m not 100% sure why, he seemed okay, somethings he did annoyed me, but I think I just felt this loyalty to Gerry that to me he couldn’t replace. Postscript brings Gerry’s letters back into Holly’s life in a completely new way. After hearing her story, a small group of terminally ill people felt inspired by Gerry and have created the PS I Love You Club, where they’re writing their own letters to their loved ones for when the time comes, but they want to enlist Holly to help them. As you can imagine, it’s an emotional read, I cried several times, once simply over different types of paper and stationary. That’s how good Cecelia Ahern writes. She had me bawling over paper! I loved being back in Holly’s life, and in a way, Gerry’s too. I loved the relationships Holly formed with the group, but my most favourite had to be Ginika and a Jewel. It was such a beautiful thing to read and made me feel all the emotions for them. I absolutely adored this. It’s times like these I look at the book and think, why have I let you sit unread for so long, and what other books like this are waiting on my shelf?! It was such a beautifully written emotional read that I loved from start to finish. Thank you Tandem for starting the #PostscriptReadalong and for encouraging me to finally pick it up, I just wish I hadn’t waited so long.

Cecilia Ahern writes a marvellous sequel to P.S. I Love You, immersing the reader again in the life of 37-year-old Holly Kennedy seven years on since the loss of her beloved husband, Gerry, from cancer at the age of 30. She has a new life with Gabriel, and is working at her sister, Ciara's second-hand vintage shop, Magpie, and remains close to her friends, Sharon and Denise. She has agreed to support Ciara by taking part in her podcast and talking about her experiences of losing Gerry and the letters he left behind for her. When a new group calling itself the P.S. I Love You Club asks for her help, Holly takes her time to consider as it was so difficult to find the strength to survive Gerry's loss, and she is reluctant to let Gerry consume a big part of her life again. Cecelia Ahern has a real gift for writing unique and meaningful stories. Her writing flows beautifully is so easy to read. I would highly recommend this novel and I really hope that one day another book will join this outstanding series! This is a contemporary fiction that continues with the storyline of PS. I love you. Holly Kennedy had loved Gerry since the age of 14. She lost her husband, 30 year old Gerry to cancer about 7 years ago. To help her with her grief, Gerry left letters addressed to her with little things she can do to ease her pain and signed as Gerry PS. I love you. Now Holly is dating Gabriel, a tree surgeon with a passion for the outdoors and working with her sister, Ciara at their vintage second-hand shop, Magpie. While working there, she reluctantly does a podcast with her sister about dealing death, where she shares about receiving letters from Gerry after he died. She is overwhelmed with the positive responses she gets. Shortly after, Holly comes across The PS. I love you Club. A group who want her to help them write their own PS. I love you letters. We continue the journey with Holly. I really liked the initial story of PS. I love you so this was a must to read. I liked how Celia Ahern developed the characters, giving us insight to their lives especially their feelings. Even after so long, I feel like I know these characters better. I also liked that Celia dedicated this book to her fans of PS. I love you and at the back of the book there Q&A for her as well as questions for us to use in a book club.

I was so excited to read this book. I adored PS I love you and as with many books was left wanting to know how life planned out. I started the book and found Holly with a new partner and wasn’t sure I was happy about this. I wondered if having a sequel so late on was actually a good thing. But then I read on and fell in love with the whole book as much as the original! The book works through all the issues of should Holly move on, how should she do this and what does it mean for her love of Gerry. The book is so moving and had me in the at a but also in fits of laughter. The characters are so vivid that I imagine myself in the room with Holly trying to balance a letter on the hands of a corpse!! The topic of this book is heartbreaking but I love how Holly, with support from her friends and family, works through all the issues and finds the path that is right for her. I love how we learn more about Holly and Gerry as well as learning about Holly and Gabriel and how the intertwining of the two shows that love is amazing and is somehow not diminished but made greater by Holly moving on. I loved it!

I thought P.s i love you was good, this was even better. I absolutely adore Cecilia Ahern books as she really puts her heart and soul into them. Beautifully written, thought provoking, emotion filled. This follows on seven years from when Holly lost her beloved Gerry. Truly magical story full of loss, love & hope, that you can move on after loss, you are allowed to be happy. You wouldn't believe how happy it made me when I saw that there was a follow up book & yes i ugly cried..you'll need the tissues! How did i miss out on reading this before now? Another highly recommended read by me & this will leave you thinking about this for days after you've finished reading it, very emotive. Beautifully illustrated cover, middle road reading, but will wont leave you feeling dissapointed. Could be read as a standalone but read both so you get an insight into the characters and their lives..
