Technically a novel, but based on actual events over the period. A great read and I would recommend it to those who are not familiar with the subject but looking to expand their knowledge. It has an index and maps which are helpful, there is also a list of photos but my copy did not contain any although this was no handicap as I have several other books on the subject and I am familiar with the period. Obviously the vocabulary is imagined but it conveys all the drama and tragedy of The Rising and does not trivialise the event. I cannot recommend it enough, give it a read.
