Reviews: Record Play Pause (2)
“An down-to-earth account of JD and Stephen's life that's filled with personality along with tons of anecdotes along the way!”
(Paperback)
Stephen recalls his past with his down-to-earth personality and sense of humour. He covers the technology and artists that inspired him, all the anecdotes involved in his success and the wide range of people who he encountered along the way!
I hadn't read actively in almost a decade until I picked up this book. I was delving Joy Division and New Order's large catalogue of music and decided to read this, and I've thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the people and the stories behind the music. Thanks for getting me back into reading, Stephen, can't wait to start Vol 2!
“Simply written but beautiful story telling”
(Paperback)
Like a Who's Who or roadmap of independent music in the mid to late 70s, the real gems in this book are found in the description of life growing up before the period the author is well known for. Occasionally brutal but heart warming as well, this was a book I read avidly and enjoyed the sometimes chaotic path the author led
I hadn't read a book this quickly in years and that is down to the quality of both the author's story telling and the simplicity in his he told it.
Whilst I am a massive fan of the bands the author has been part of, anyone could read this book and enjoy it's humour and imagery
