Set in the USA, humans live uneasily but mostly peacefully together with a lycan (werewolf) minority. After lycan terrorist attacks however, the mood changes and both sides are caught in a vicious cirlcle of ever increasing violence. The story focusses on a handful of characters, mainly Claire, a lycan and Patrick, a human teenager. But beware, this is not a teen-romance where love conquers all, the supernatual element is just background, you might as well substitute lycans with a minority of your choice and you have a complex mess in which no side is all good or bad, everyone is compromised and the future looks more than doubtful. This is a dark, pacy thriller which reminded me of some of Stephen King's non-supernatural books. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved this book! It's a dark tale set in the modern world, but with a twist. Werewolves are real, and they are fighting for survival against the humans who can't decide whether to eradicate them or accept them. This isn't just a werewolf horror story though, as Benjamin Percy focuses on a variety of characters which makes his story fuller and more rounded. I couldn't put it down. If you liked The Passage or Wool then deffinately try this!

One for fans of Stephen King's masterpiece 'The Stand' and Justin Cronin's recent vampire tome 'The Passage', 'Red Moon' is a solid and entertaining take on werewolves, casting them not as lumbering lunar lupine mostrosities, but as the infected - a part of the population that, while capable of living perfectly normal lives, is being increasingly pushed into a corner. Great stuff

I’m not one hundred percent sure where I stand with this book: on the one hand I enjoyed it and yet on another hand I felt as though at times I was forcing myself to carry on reading it. As a whole I enjoyed it more than I disliked it, and yet it doesn’t fall into my favourite reads of the year thus far. The book takes lycans and throws them into the world we know: rather than having them some hidden creature hiding away in dark corners they are all around us. The world knows of lycans and yet people are unaware, for the most part, who the lycans are. Following a lycan terrorist attack a downwards spiral ensues in which both sides are dealing with the consequences of their actions. It’s not the normal supernatural read instead it’s a thriller which has subsisted an everyday minority for a supernatural creature. It is certainly an interesting read.

This book reminded me of 'The Passge' because it is about different groups of people who have different perspectives of what's going on. Lycans are a known part of the population, but they're not completely accepted by everyone. An act of terrorism by a werewolf starts an uprising and riots and life as our main characters know it changes completely. It's a really great read!
